2nd European Orthopaedic and Sports Acupuncture Congress

Following the success of our inaugural event, we’re thrilled to announce the second edition, scheduled for June 14-16 2024. Building on the excitement and positive feedback from our first gathering, this upcoming event promises another exceptional opportunity to engage, learn, and network in the realm of orthopedic and sports acupuncture.

We are excited to announce that we have the same three speakers for this second edition. 

The speakers and topics are as follows:

Dr Josh Margolis will teach the following topic:

  • Assessment and Treatment of Spinal Segmental Motion Dysfunction with Acupuncture and Manual Therapy

Join us for a practical lecture focusing on assessing and treating spinal segmental motion dysfunction. This session combines acupuncture and manual therapy methods, providing practical insights and techniques. Discover how these approaches work together to address spinal issues effectively. Gain valuable skills and a deeper understanding of how to improve patient care in managing spinal health.”

    This is a full day lecture and will be split in two half days.

      Dr. Jenny Nieters will lecture about:

      • Sports Acupuncture: Ankle Pain, Mobility & Stability

      Learn anatomy, assessment and acupuncture treatment for common lower extremity injuries, including ankle sprains, chronic ankle instability and achilles tendinopathy. A broad range of effective and gentle acupuncture techniques will be covered. The course will also include practice of orthopedic assessment, palpation and manual therapy. Anatomically significant structures which will be addressed: gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, tibialis anterior, tibialis posterior, peroneus longus, soleus, achilles tendon, sinus tarsi.

      This is a full day lecture and will be split in two half days. 

      And of course Kangfu’s all time favourite Dr Richard Hazel will talk about:
        • Acupuncture for Common Forearm Issues: Effective Treatment Strategies

        Explore Clinical Applications of Acupuncture for Forearm Disorders. This lecture focuses on the practical use of motor point acupuncture, dry needling and soft tissue techniques in addressing conditions such as lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), cubital tunnel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, and radial nerve entrapment. Discover innovative approaches to manage these common upper extremity issues, gaining insights into effective treatment strategies that can improve patient outcomes.”

         

        This will be a 1/2 day lecture.
          • “Exploring Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Plantar Nerve Entrapments, and Foot Neuropathy”

          Join us for a lecture focusing on foot neuropathies. This comprehensive session covers Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Plantar Nerve Entrapments, and Foot Neuropathy, including Superficial Peroneal Cutaneous Nerve issues, all issues commonly seen post sciatica. 

          This will be a 1/2 day lecture.

          So who is this congress for? 
          This congres is only for qualified practitioners who are focused on treating acute or chronic pains and who work with professional or amateur athletes that would like to increase their performance and get reliable and measurable results and pain relief! The workshops will assume some knowledge of anatomy.

          This will be a 3 day congress packed with awesome information! Our aim is to make this a yearly event. Of course we will try to organise an evening gathering again.

          The workshops will include lectures, treatment demonstrations, and of course a lot of hands-on practice.

          About the speakers

          Dr. Jenny Nieters specializes in sports medicine, orthopedic injuries and athletic performance. In addition to her private clinical practice, she is a team acupuncturist for the San Francisco 49ers and the Saint Mary’s College Men’s Rugby teams. She teaches continuing education courses for Licensed Acupuncturists privately and was part of the Acupuncture Sports Medicine Apprentice Program, developed by Whitfield Reaves. She works with professional and Olympic athletes including MLB, NFL, rugby, NBA, WWE and tennis.
          She also served as event acupuncturist for international rugby tournaments, including the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco, the Silicon Valley Sevens and the Las Vegas Sevens. She traveled with the Samoan Sevens team to support their efforts at the Paris Sevens tournament. She also the acupuncturist for Tight End University, and event for NFL tight ends.

          Dr. Joshua Margolis is a seasoned practitioner with a wealth of experience in manual medicine, bodywork, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine. Since 1995, he has dedicated himself to these healing arts, continually expanding his knowledge and skills. From 2005 to 2009, Joshua served as a faculty member at The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences and The Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, where he imparted his expertise in anatomy, orthopedic acupuncture, advanced channel theory, and pain management. Currently, he shares his wealth of knowledge as a staff member at The Osteopathic College of Ontario and as a respected instructor of doctoral level orthopedic courses at several esteemed acupuncture colleges in the Bay Area.

          Dr. Richard Hazel received his Master of Science in Acupuncture – Orthopedic & Sports Medicine at Pacific College in New York. The program focused on the location and treatment of motor points for the treatment pain and improved neuromuscular function. Richard has also studied Neurofunctional Electric Stimulation Acupuncture under Dan Wunderlich, LAc  and the theories and methods of Dr. C C Gunn and Dr. Janet Travell. Richard’s private practice in NY focuses on treating chronic pains and injuries and improving performance by assessing muscle imbalances and decreased range of motion. He gets excellent results with only a few treatments necessary by keeping the focus on restoring the function of the limbs, joints or spinal segments, instead of attempting to merely treat local pain.

          Accreditation

          Dutch attendees: Please let us know if you need accreditation with NVA or Zhong, so we can apply for it in advance. We can only apply for accreditation of 3 or more participants from one association attend. 

          American attendees: We will apply for NCCAOM accreditation.
